About this Course

Please join us for a walk with naturalist Juliet Pendray, exploring fungi and lichen, learning about their interesting partnerships and ecologies, as well as some identification basics to help us get to know them better. We will look for lichen and spring mushrooms, growing from the soil and logs, from live trees and sun-warmed boulders, and examine their intricate and colourful shapes. An amazing diversity of life and complex ecologies exists in our region, often unnoticed in small spaces. Please dress warmly, as we will be moving fairly slowly. If you have your own hand lens / magnifier, please bring it, and if you don’t, we will have some to loan. Please bring water and lunch/snacks. Transportation is provided, departure from Crystal Pool at event start time. The destination for this walk will be posted closer to the event date, and emailed to registered participants. For accessibility information about this event, please call 250-361-0732 ext 0 or email lseltzer@victoria.ca with your questions. Please note, we strive to provide scent-free events, as scented products can cause adverse reactions for some people. Please refrain from using or wearing scented products while attending this event. Cancellations: If you can no longer attend a workshop you are registered for, please provide 72-hours’ notice to receive a full refund. Call 250-361-0732 ext 0 to cancel.
